Get PoppyDisk running on a Windows 11 PC.
When you finish, PoppyDisk opens on the Drive Overview and its version shows in the title bar.
System requirements
Before you start
- Windows 11.
- A 64-bit x64 PC. There is no ARM64 build.
- A Windows account you can install programs into. PoppyDisk installs for the current user only, so it does not ask for administrator permission to install.
- WebView2, which Windows 11 already includes. The installer carries its own copy and installs it silently if it is missing.
PoppyDisk is a native desktop app, not a browser page. It does not need an internet connection to scan, and nothing about your Drive leaves your PC. See What PoppyDisk sends and stores.
Install
- Download the installer from poppydisk.com/download/windows. The file is named
PoppyDisk_<version>_x64-setup.exe. If you prefer an MSI package, use poppydisk.com/download/windows?format=msi instead. - Open the downloaded file and follow the installer. It installs PoppyDisk for your Windows account and adds it to the Start menu.
- Start PoppyDisk from the Start menu. The window opens on the Drive Overview, listing your Drives with how much space is free on each. The title bar shows PoppyDisk and the installed version.
Nothing is scanned until you ask. The overview only lists Drives and their free space; measuring what is on them is the next task, Scan a Drive.
If the download page reports that the download is unavailable, the website could not reach the current release. Wait and retry. See Fix install and download problems.
Before you point it at your own Drive
If you would rather see every screen first, take a tour in Demo Mode. Demo Mode runs PoppyDisk on synthetic Drives and never reads or changes a real file.
Update PoppyDisk
There is no in-app updater. To update, download the installer again from the same address and run it. The download always resolves to the latest published release.
