Sizes are Size on Disk: the bytes really allocated, not the bytes advertised.

Items wait in the Cleanup Basket, each with a Risk level. Protected system locations refuse the basket outright, deletion goes through the Recycle Bin by default, and Recovered Space is reported only after Windows confirms it.

Microsoft Store or direct download?
The same free app either way, with the same paid Clean Tier and the same License Key. Microsoft Store installs PoppyDisk and keeps it updated. The Direct-download Edition brings its own installer, updates itself in place, and is the one that offers the Elevated Rescan. An existing installation stays on the route it came from.
Can PoppyDisk break my Windows install?
It is built not to. Protected locations (drive roots, the Windows and system directories, your user profile root) refuse the Cleanup Basket outright, enforced in the Rust engine, not the interface. Everything else passes a Deletion Review, and deletion goes to the Recycle Bin by default: the reversible path is the default path.
Does it phone home?
Only when needed or when you choose it. Licensing contacts Polar after you enter a License Key. Optional Product Analytics through PostHog and Diagnostics through Sentry stay off until you agree, and you can change each choice at any time. Drive scans, file contents, file names, paths, and License Keys are never sent for analytics or diagnostics. You never create a PoppyDisk account.
Does it need administrator rights?
Not by default. Areas the app cannot read are counted separately and shown in purple as Restricted. The Direct-download Edition can measure them with an Elevated Rescan: explicit, and scoped to the location you asked about. The Store Edition does not offer it yet, so Restricted areas stay part of Unknown Space there.
What does the free version include?

Which versions of Windows are supported?
PoppyDisk is built for Windows 11 on x64 PCs. It runs on the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime that Windows 11 includes.
